BDU: Bahir Dar University has formally welcomed representatives of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' who came to Bahir Dar to participate in the seventh Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' National Holiday at its newly built Grand Sport Academy Stadium.
The representatives of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ were given a warm welcome up on arrival at the University at colorful ceremony graced by the Government higher officials and the University community.
During the occasion, Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ representatives and Bahir Dar University Cultural Center team members presented various folkloric musics to the gathering.

The University community members who Participanted at the welcoming celebration told BDU Website reporters that the mini festival which took place on December 5, 2012 at Bahir Dar University was extraordinary.

BDU: Bahir Dar University has unveiled a statue dubbed “The Statue of Wisdom “to renew its promise of turning out dynamic citizens that will substantially contribute to the   development of Ethiopia.
The statue, which was built at the cost of 2 point 3 million Ethiopian Birr, depicts Ethiopia along her millions of children moving forward to achieve great civilization in the years to come. It also specifically communicates Bahir Dar University’s support to Ethiopia’s journey to renaissance by igniting the fire of knowledge from the Source of Blue Nile.
During the inauguration ceremony, The University’s President Dr.Baylie Damtie said that the statue has been erected to show the eternal life of Bahir Dar University.
Speaking at the same function, The FDRE House of Federation Speaker Kassa Teklebirhan noted that the statue is the symbol of the University’s commitment to keep on serving as a leading light of Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ towards a brighter future.
Participants of the inaugural ceremony included Bahir Dar City Mayor and Bahir Dar University Community Members as well as other interested residents of the city.
